This series started as a follow-on to the three books in The King of Gravesend Series. When you kill the main character, as I did in the aptly named "The King of Gravesend is Dead!", you have to really think that series is finished.
However, one day I thought "what will happen to Ro now? The widow of Chuds Douglas, who has inherited a "chunk of change" and a few businesses, including those in the Philippines, what will she do now? Chuds would never have said that had made her a success, she was a sex-worker when he met her, he was an old friend of her Mums, and he hired her to help build the Regal business. He trusted her, he encouraged her, but it was always to develop skills and strengths that she had always had. They had an intriguing relationship, built on honesty, fun and sharing.
Ro confessed that following her past work, she found it difficult to imagine another relationship with a man. However, in her grief for her lost husband she realized that one person had always been there for her. Angel. The girl that helped run her business interests in the Philippines, she was loyal, loving and caring and she decided to take the plunge and ask her to marry. They married in the UK because same sex marriage was not legal in the Philippines, Angel moved into the small apartment that Ro had shared with her late husband, and they became 'The Trents'.
And that's when the adventures really began.
